I turned them into standard topics so they still exist in the announcements board, but are not global announcements anymore.

Rotating Banner Code for new themes

In templates/overall_header.html you need to first search for:

Code: Select all

<head>


and underneath this line add:

Code: Select all

<script type="text/javascript" src="banners.js"></script>


Then search for:

Code: Select all

id="logo"


And replace the ENTIRE LINE with:

Code: Select all

<a id="logo" class="logo" href="<!-- IF U_SITE_HOME -->{U_SITE_HOME}<!-- ELSE -->{U_INDEX}<!-- ENDIF -->" title="<!-- IF U_SITE_HOME -->{L_SITE_HOME}<!-- ELSE -->{L_INDEX}<!-- ENDIF -->"><script type="text/javascript">show_banners();</script></a>


This will enable the rotating banners in your new theme.

I downloaded this.. It won't work, it's a phpBB V3.0.x style which is incompatible. Please use the link Colorize a phpBB 3.1 theme to re-create the style so that it will work with this version.. Notice that I specifically included the entire link to get to the phpBB 3.1.x style helper...


...how did I miss that...

meh, I only spent twenty minutes on it anyway. I'll see if I can find subsilver 2 in the 3.1 area.

Some of you will notice that I've managed to insert some of the old images into the system.. If you don't see them clear your browser cache and they will pop up.. Though they do look weird with the coloring of the existing themes...

Note: Attached you will find the images from the old themes so you can try to incorporate them (or modify them if you like) for your own themes...

Ok.. I've added a topic called "Make The Haven Your Own!" which contains all the information you need to start making your own themes.. You can also create new smilies and I'll be glad to install them.. We can then set up a poll after we have a few new styles in where people can vote on their favorite themes. Let's make this a fun experience and get people involved in the site!

Something seems to have gone wrong in an attempt to reply that I posted.. The text got lost other than the quote from the person I was replying to and it screwed up the orientation of everything below it.. so I just deleted the reply...

Yes, the banners will be returning.. The problem is this: I have to make a change to EVERY theme separately to install the banners back... So each time someone decides on a new theme idea I have to manually find WHERE in the header to put the code for the banners and then copy it from the old header code, insert it into the new header code, and then clear the cache so it will show up.. Bit of a nuisance, sadly.. I've looked to see if there's an "extension" as they now call them that would insert it into the header (like the donation thing does) for every theme, but have not found one so far.


Wow... nuisance is a polite word for it. What a chore. :o

it seems the colour site only lets me edit 8 colors max, so I have this rougher looking one here. Obviously not the brilliantly accurate copy that the previous attempt was.

At least in the skin I designed, there's a little heart by the side of each post. Clicking on that gives the post a like.

Should be on all skins as it's one of the "universal extensions".. Though I have noticed it does not always work properly (that "postlove" error you've seen).. I may end up looking for a different "like post" extension.
